Every number traces to a public record. If we got something wrong, tell us and we'll correct it, with the date.
Oregon's ORESTAR campaign-finance filings, Portland's council voting records, and news coverage linked at each claim.
A person counts if they gave to the candidate and, since 2006, to one of 18 Republican campaigns or party committees, and the street address, or ZIP and employer, match. The same test runs on every candidate shown.
The candidates are Democrats. Republicans aren't funding or endorsing them as a party, and many prominent Democrats back them. When we call them conservative, we mean where they stand in Portland politics, judged by their votes, their backers and their message, not their party registration.
Portland uses ranked-choice voting. Anyone you rank can end up with your vote, so only rank candidates you'd want to win.
